NDHQ (Carling) is officially open for business!
The wait is finally over. The first wave of Defence Team members have moved into our new national headquarters at the Carling Campus, a newly renovated, state-of-the art workspace located in Ottawa’s west end.
“I was skeptical before coming here to be honest. I thought it was going to be a lot like a call centre from the 1950s. It’s not. It is really, really good,” said Petty Officer, 2nd Class Brandon Sharman, Coordination Assistant for Director General Military Careers. “It’s great to see your colleagues and talk to them, you do have enough privacy, and you do have enough space.”
Members of Chief Military Personnel were the first to unpack their boxes and settle in to their new workplace, with subsequent groups moving in over the course of the months and years ahead. The move, scheduled to be complete in 2019, will consolidate the Defence Team footprint in the National Capital Region from over 40 locations to approximately seven.
Staff at the Campus will benefit from an enhanced security environment that offers plenty of natural light, new workspaces and modern technology, such as workplace tablets and advanced high-speed printers. They will also enjoy features that will improve their workplace experience including new fitness facilities, kilometres of hiking trails, and a variety of on-site services and amenities.
“My impression, and that of many that work for me has been very positive. It’s a fantastic facility, with a lot of amenities, and from what I understand, there’s more to come,” said Major Line Leboeuf of Director Military Careers Administration.
