From June 9-12, six Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members were honoured in Ottawa, Ontario as part of the 2017 CAF Recognition Program. Among a host of special activities, each Program recipient was presented with a Chief of the Defence Staff Commendation for deeds or activities they performed that went beyond the expectations of normal duty.

Participation in this program is a unique experience for those selected.

On June 12, the honourees gathered in the House of Commons during Question Period. This special time gave members of Parliament the opportunity to express their gratitude to the recipients for their hard work and their service to Canada. Over the weekend, the members also took a tour of the Canadian War Museum, and attended a special brunch co-hosted by General Jonathan Vance, Chief of the Defence Staff, and Chief Warrant Officer Kevin West, Canadian Forces Chief Warrant Officer, among other activities.
