Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment change of command and 50th anniversary
By Captain Sarah Rogers, AETE
Unit members and guests gathered as Major-General Alexander Patch presided over the change of command parade between Colonel Michael Barker and Col Eric Grandmont at the Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment (AETE) on May 25.
Col Barker served as the Commanding Officer AETE for three years and is now headed to Washington, DC to attend the National War College.
Promoted to colonel in May, Col Grandmont was previously AETE’s Senior Design Engineer, Senior Test Engineer, and Officer Commanding Evaluation Support.
For the past 50 years, AETE, currently under the chain of command of Director General Aerospace Equipment Program Management, has provided aerospace test and evaluation expertise and services in support of Canadian Armed Forces operational capabilities. Throughout its history, AETE completed over 2500 projects on less than 50 different aircraft types ensuring that safety of flight concerns of aeronautical products are addressed and that they meet their operational intent prior to their entry into service.
