Get your cameras ready for the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Imagery Contest!

The 2017 contest will be open for submissions from June 15 to September 1, so send your best shots.

Whether you’re a seasoned professional or an amateur photographer, this is the contest for you. The photography portion of the contest accepts images in eight categories, and is open to all members of the Defence Team and their families.

In addition to the photography portion, this year’s contest will also have two video categories, Actuality and Social Media. Send your real-world, 30-second to two-minute video footage for Actuality submissions, and your 30-second to one-minute inspirational message videos for Social Media entries.

Photographers and videographers will be eligible to win $10 000 in prizes from contest sponsors. Even if you don’t win the grand prize, participating in the contest automatically enters you in a draw for two tickets to anywhere Westjet flies (excluding Hawaii).

The CAF Imagery Contest will also welcome nominations for the Military Photographer Achievement Award, a prize introduced in 2015 to recognize the contributions that CAF imagery technicians have made to the CAF community.

For five decades, the Imagery Contest has been celebrating the talented photographers who capture life in CAF communities from coast to coast to coast. While taking photos this summer, keep the Imagery Contest in mind. Family gatherings, sports tournaments, scenic vacations, work events… the possibilities are endless.
