Members of the 5th Canadian Mechanised Brigade Group (CMBG) organized an open house recently at Canadian Forces Base Valcartier, Que., to acquaint visitors with the military and all the interesting things it does.

Mild temperatures, food-trucks, a simulated attack demonstration with a helicopter descent, the opportunity to speak with military vehicle crews, and equipment and materiel exhibitions attracted more than 13 000 people—an increase of more than 3000 from 2016.

Visitors were also treated to a parade featuring the famous Guard in Red, part of the 2nd Battalion, the Royal 22nd Regiment. The Guard in Red is based out of the Quebec Citadel, where it performs the Changing of the Guard every day in the summer.

5 CMBG thanks all of the visitors who participated in this event, as well as all of the exhibitors and military personnel who worked to make the 2017 Open House a success.
