The Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship project completed another significant production milestone at the Halifax Shipyard towards the completion of the future HMCS Harry DeWolf.

On December 8, the ship’s third and final mega-block was moved from inside the Assembly and Ultra Hall facility to the exterior land level construction point. The final mega-block will be joined to the first two mega-blocks, which were moved outdoors in July 2017.

With construction moving towards its final steps, the ship is expected to launch in Summer 2018.

As part of Canada’s new defence policy, Strong, Secure, Engaged, the Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship project will deliver five to six ships to the Royal Canadian Navy to provide armed, sea-borne surveillance of Canadian waters, including in the Arctic.
