Welcome to Guardian – the Next Generation HR!
Guardian has successfully completed the development and testing phase and is now ready to go live on June 26.
Transition to Guardian (internal link) will require about a week of effort, including backing up / converting data; completing the transition; and rigorously testing several migration processes. The transition begins Monday, June 18, 2018 and is expected to end less than a week later, with Guardian becoming available Tuesday, June 26, 2018.
Guardian delivers better navigation and improved HR data accuracy for 15 000 end users with a dynamic, web-based graphic user interface and drop-down menu-selections. Largely a technical upgrade from PeopleSoft 7.5 to 9.1, Guardian replaces the 18-year-old Human Resources Management System (HRMS) and supports greater deployment readiness.
With Guardian, CAF Personnel Management enters a new era. By placing people first, Guardian (internal link) aligns with the new Defence Policy – Strong, Secure, Engaged – and better helps manage the CAF’s 100 000 members.
More than 94 percent of its 15 000 end users have completed their Guardian training and certifications (internal link). All of the Guardian Communities (internal link) have been extensively consulted during the development phase of Guardian: for the pay interface alone, more than 647 scenarios have been tested and ultimately completed successfully.
How will Guardian impact CAF members?
Guardian’s newer web-based platform and software design will produce cleaner, more accurate HR information for its CAF members. End users are advised to check their Military Personnel Resume Record (MPRR) under the HR Management System (HRMS) 7.5 and then compare it to Guardian’s sourced-version, available shortly after the mid-June 2018 Guardian Go-Live. Any inaccuracies should be reported to your nearest Orderly Room.
Whether Reservist or Regular Force member, you will have one merged, continuous service record. If you transfer from the Reserve to the Regular Force (or vice-versa) your continuous service record will retain all historic education, postings, dependants, and other pertinent information. This combined wealth of HR information will follow you and be reflected on your MPRR to better support your career development.
Minimising Guardian’s impact on pay
All CAF Members will continue to receive their pay reliably, at the current pay cycles of the 15th and last day of every month. Hundreds of scenarios have been tested and the few issues that did arise have been addressed in close collaboration with Guardian’s team of IT experts.
