(S) Welcome back to Defence Team News, I’m Shelley Van Hoof.

(J) And I’m Lt(N) Jacki Kavanagh, the 2018 National Defence Workplace Charitable Campaign Youth Co-champion. The campaign is right around the corner, so be sure to mark September 28th launch on your calendar.

(S) We all have our reasons for giving. Come out and stand Shoulder-to-Shoulder in support of the 2018 NDWCC. For more information, visit the related links.

(J) And now, here are the headlines at Defence.

(J) New equipment being delivered as part of the Integrated Soldier System Project was highlighted during an announcement in Petawawa, Ontario last month.

The Integrated Soldier System is cutting-edge technology that includes smartphone-like devices built into a wearable vest with integrated communications equipment and accessories. Using the device screen, soldiers will be able to see, in real time, the location of other connected soldiers.

This will improve situational awareness, allowing them to stay better connected with their teams and their entire chain of command during operations.

(S) A little over two weeks remain to complete the Public Service Employee Survey, or PSES. The survey measures civilian employees’ opinions in relation to employee engagement, leadership and the workplace.

Here’s the Assistant Deputy Minister for Review Services, Amipal Manchanda, on the importance of the PSES and why all civilian employees should participate.

(AM) Hello, I’m Amipal Manchanda, the ADM Review Services and your PSES champion. As we are now mid-way through the 2018 edition of the survey, I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have already participated, and invite those who have not yet done so to complete the survey now.

In pursuit of Defence leadership’s commitment to building a Defence Team that demonstrates a culture of excellence, the survey serves to identify both organizational strengths as well as those areas in need of improvement. These in turn ensure continuous improvements to our management practices and to your work environment. So, we want to hear from you!

I’m committed to giving your feedback the attention it deserves, so that real changes will be made in support of a healthy and diverse workplace.

Thank you once again for your support.

(J) That’s it for us. Thank you so much for watching. See you next time…
